Hot Isostatic Pressing

The castings get charged in a pressure tank. The air is replaced by an inert gas (argon or nitrogen). At the same time the pressure and the temperature get raised to the working level.


During the holding time plastic flow mechanisms are activated, so plastic yielding, creep and diffusional effect take place, enforced by high pressure.

  •  The metal flows to the center
  •  The pores are touching each other
     and diffuse to a compact and
     faultless metal structure
